BREAKING: DSS Operatives Brutalize Nollywood Director Dickson Iroegbu, Sowore In Abuja

 


Nollywood Director Dickson Iroegbu, Sowore, Brutalized For Showing Up To Cover Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's Trial.

A Nollywood Film Director Dickson Iroegbu and activist, Omoyele Sowere  been severely beaten up and arrested by DSS operatives in Abuja. 


Iroegbu and Sowore were one of the many Nigerians that came out to monitor the proceedings at the resumed hearing of the case against the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.






Iroegbu had alerted his audience on Facebook that he had just been brutalized and arrested. He however did not reveal which office they taken to. 


Also, Inibehe Effiong a human rights lawyer, revealed that Sowore was picked up very far from the court entrance and his camera seized from him.


“@YeleSowore has just been beaten up and arrested by SSS and Nigeria Police officers far away from the entrance of the Federal High Court in Abuja where he went to cover and monitor the trial of Nnamdi Kanu. They also seized his camera.


“Nigeria is under a full dictatorship. Buhari has murdered democracy. We demand his immediate release.


“It is not a crime for a citizen and a reporter to stand in a public place,” he added. 


Trial adjourned till Oct 21 as Kanu absent from court


The trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, resumed at the Federal High Court Abuja on Monday without Kanu’s presence in court according to a report by Punch. 


When the matter was called up, the prosecution counsel, M. B. Abubakar, informed the court that the matter was slated for hearing and that they were ready to continue.


Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, informed the court that there was a pending application before the court to transfer Kanu from the custody of the DSS to the correctional centre.


Justice Binta Nyako stated that the trial cannot continue in the absence of Kanu since he is not available to stand his trial.


Justice Nyako also called the DSS to produce the IPOB leader in court for trial.


The court adjourned to October 21, 2021, for continuation of hearing.
