OAU Confers Doctor of Entrepreneurship On Senate Environment Committee Chairman For contributions To Infrastructure, Innovation and Youth Empowerment.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment, Distinguished Senator Ajagunnla-Oodua Olubiyi Fadeyi, has been honoured with a Doctor of Entrepreneurship (Honoris Causa) by Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The prestigious honour was conferred on Senator Fadeyi during the university’s 49th Convocation Ceremony in recognition of his contributions to entrepreneurship, innovation, infrastructure development and initiatives aimed at supporting economic growth.
In a message to the President of the Senate, the leadership and distinguished senators, Fadeyi described the honour as a source of deep gratitude and humility.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled by the conferment of the prestigious Doctor of Entrepreneurship (Honoris Causa) D.E. by Obafemi Awolowo University during its 49th Convocation Ceremony”.
Speaking further the senator said the recognition reflected the confidence placed in his public service, particularly his efforts in attracting approximately $10 billion in infrastructural investment, supporting the university community and facilitating development projects across Osun Central Senatorial District.
According to him, his interventions include the renovation of the Faculty of Science, popularly known as the “White House,” as well as more than 100 projects completed across the Osun Central Senatorial District.
Fadeyi also highlighted his commitment to supporting his alma mater, noting that he recently had the privilege of laying the foundation for a 250-capacity Green Technology Lecture Theatre Hall at Obafemi Awolowo University.
He described the project as part of his contribution towards giving back to the institution and promoting innovation and sustainable development.
The senator said the honour would further strengthen his resolve to pursue initiatives that create opportunities for Nigerians, particularly young people.
“I accept this honour with gratitude, pledging to uphold its ideals: innovation, mentorship, and societal impact,” Fadeyi stated.
He added that the recognition would inspire him to intensify efforts in the areas of job creation, annual bursary awards for students, global private-sector partnerships and legislative collaboration.
“It inspires me to drive more job creation, yearly bursary awards for students, global private partnership, and legislative synergy for Nigeria’s progress,” he added.
The lawmaker expressed appreciation to his colleagues and supporters for their encouragement, saying he was proud to bear the new title in continued service to the nation.
The honour adds to the senator’s record of legislative and constituency interventions focused on infrastructure, education, entrepreneurship, environmental development and economic empowerment.
