CP Sanusi Orders Investigation, Assures Accountability As Command Seeks Evidence From Complainant.
The FCT Police Command has formally invited Mr. Sunday Michael Ogwu to appear at the Command Headquarters today, Friday, August 21, 2026, by 12:00PM to make an official statement on allegations that he was assaulted by officers attached to Lugbe Police Station.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Command said videos circulating on social media since Wednesday, August 19, 2026, alleged that Mr. Ogwu was assaulted on that date.
Following the circulation of the videos, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, immediately ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. He directed that any officer found culpable would face disciplinary action in line with extant laws.
According to the Command, several invitations have been extended to Mr. Ogwu by the PPRO since August 19 to visit the Command Headquarters, make an official statement, and present evidence to aid the investigation. The Command said he has not honoured the invitations and has continued to share videos online.
“The Command hereby formally invites Mr. Sunday Michael Ogwu to visit the Command Headquarters today, 21st August, 2026 by 12:00PM, to make his official statement and present relevant evidence to substantiate his claims,” the statement said.
The Command assured the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and that any officer found to have acted unprofessionally would be held accountable.
It reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, respect for citizens’ rights, and the rule of law.
