Joint Enforcement Targets Unauthorized Motor Parks Fueling Traffic And Crime In The State Capital.
The Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with the Oshimili North and South Local Government authorities, has commenced a decisive enforcement exercise against unauthorized parks and garages operating within the Asaba metropolis.
The operation, which began on Monday, July 20th, targeted illegal parks and garages that have contributed to traffic congestion, insecurity, and disorderly conduct across the city as well as creating a festering ground for crimes via allowing sending of unchecked parcels as waybills. During the exercise, nine illegal parks were dismantled at strategic locations: one at Pinnacle Junction along Okpanam Road, two at the Summit area, three at the Koka area and three others at the Head Bridge axis boundary between Delta and Anambra States
A total of 45 vehicles were impounded during the enforcement exercise and these vehicles have been handed over to the Local Government authorities for possible prosecution in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
The Command under the leadership of CP Yemi John Oyeniyi psc, acipm, mnips emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to restore order and ensure that only registered parks and garages operate within the state and assures the general public that similar enforcement exercises will be replicated across other parts of Delta State, the spokesperson of the command revealed.
The Command further made a call on hereby Deltans to cooperate with the Police while urging transport operators and motorists to comply with established regulations and utilize only approved parks and garages.
