Kogi State Command Inaugurates Two Newly Constructed Police Outputs In Lokoja.
The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has inaugurated two newly constructed police outposts in Lokoja, the state capital.
A statement issued on Thursday in Lokoja by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Saliu Afusat, said the new outposts were part of the Force’s commitment to strengthening the internal security architecture, enhancing rapid response to threats and emergencies, and fostering improved police–community relations.
She said the projects were executed by the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen effective policing and expand police presence across communities.
The newly inaugurated outposts are located in the Adankolo area of Lokoja under ‘A’ Division and the Zango area of Lokoja under ‘D’ Division.
According to the statement, they are strategically sited to enhance policing coverage, deter criminal activities and ensure swift response to security threats within the areas and their environs.
“The establishment of the outposts followed concerns raised by members of the communities during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting hosted by the Commissioner of Police, where residents highlighted the absence of police formations and the attendant security challenges,” Afusat said.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi, assured the communities of prompt intervention, a commitment which, she said, has now been fulfilled with the siting and commissioning of the facilities at the requested locations.
The commissioner emphasised the importance of community partnership in achieving effective security.
“These outposts are not just physical structures, but a reflection of our commitment to listening to the people and responding to their security concerns.
“Sustainable security can only be achieved through cooperation between the police and the communities,” he said.
Kankarofi also charged officers posted to the new outposts to uphold professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s vision for people-oriented and community-based policing.
“CP Kankarofi reassured the good people of Kogi State of the command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining proactive security measures across the state and urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information, assuring that all information provided will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” Afusat added.
