News Content Over Defection Of Enugu Governor Ugwuanyi, Fake, Act Of Mischief.
The Governor of Enugu state Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has responded to the news making round on his alleged plan to Defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A Statement issued on Wednesday July 7 2021 by the governor's official media team read ;
" The attention of Ugwuanyi New Media has been drawn to a fake News posted by mischief makers on “cityneesng”, alleging that the Governor of Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, met with the BOT members of the PDP on closed doors over what they tagged “planned defection”.
" The truth is that Governor Ugwuanyi as the leader of the PDP in the South East received in audience the members of the Board of Trustees of the PDP led by the Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, yesterday at Enugu State Goverment House.
" Earlier today, His Excellency held a closed door meeting with the BOT members and these meetings were reported appropriately.
" The BOT members upon arrival yesterday noted that they were in Enugu to see the Governor who doubles as the Leader of the party in the region, to discuss ways of further strengthening the party in the region.
" At no point was the issue of defection discussed in the meeting. Worthy to note also is that His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has never at any point mulled the decision of leaving the PDP for any other platform.
" Governor Ugwuanyi is passionately committed to strengthening the PDP in the South East, while focusing on delivering dividends of democracy to the good people of Enugu State.
" Indeed, Enugu State is in the Hands of God," he added.
