EFCC Operatives Grill Senator Tanko Makura, Wife, Over Allegations Of Corruption.
Information reaching the news desk of MediaOrchid reveals that former Governor of Nasarawa state,Tanko Al-Makura and his wife have been arrested by EFCC following allegations of corruption.
Al-Makura who is serving senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District was first elected into office as governor in 2011, then as senator in 2019
Sources from the anti-graft agency revealed that the Senator and his wife are being grilled by EFFC officials at its headquarters in the FCT-Abuja .
“ They were arrested as a result of alleged breach misappropriation of funds committed during the former governor’s administration as Nasarawa State governor,” the source said.
Al-Makura who is also vying for the position of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is strongly rumored to be at loggerheads with his predecessor in the state since he left office in May, 2019.
Al-Makura, while confirming his intention to vie for the position of the national chairman of APC recently in a statement, said: “I want to applaud Governor Sule, who is in the forefront of the project since the flag-off of the party’s revalidation in Gudi, Akwanga local government area of the state without consulting him, he spoke publicly and everyone was very happy.
As at press time, the EFCC Spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren could not be reached for confirmation by MediaOrchid
On the other hand Danjuma Joseph, the Spokesperson of Sen Al-Makura denied being in the know of the arrest but however confirmed that his boss went Abuja earlier in the morning.
“His Excellency left Lafia (Nasarawa State capital) for Abuja this morning. I am not aware of such arrest,” he added.
