PASAN Suspends Strike For 45 Days

 





Parliamentary Staff Association Of Nigeria (PASAN) Suspends Strike For 45 Days To Enable The Passage Of Necessary Legislation.



The Parliamentary Staff Association Of Nigeria has reveled that it only suspended its strike for 45 days to allow for the passage of legislations in the Memorandum of Action (MOA), signed with the Union by the government.


MediaOrchid recalls that there was a call for nationwide strike as a result of the non implementation of Financial autonomy for State Legislature making reference to section 121(3) of the Constitution.


The National President of PASAN after a virtual meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) and resolve to suspend the strike laid emphasis on the duration of suspension of the strike stressing that it was for "45 days only ;June14-July 29 " and further directed its staff to resume at duty posts.


Usman went on to commend the efforts of president Buhari his chief of staff Gambari , minister of Labour of employment Dr. Chris Ngige and also the committee on implementation of Financial Autonomy at the state level, the finally the National Labour Congress(NLC) for making it possible for a peaceful resolve to be achieved via MOA.


" After an appraisal of gg nationwide strike and consideration of calls from well meaning institutions and members of the general public to suspend the strike action to facilitate the passage of necessary legislations as contained in the (MOA). The strike action is only suspended for 45 days window starting from Monday 14 June, 2021 to 29 July 2021."


The members the National Executive Council, the chapters and members of the union cutting across states received high Commendation from the union for what the Usman described as 'unalloyed support, Resilience and steadfastness' through the period noting that its members were Intimidated and victimized.


The union further stressed that it would no longer tolerate victimization.


" We shall no longer yokes rate any further victimization of members due to their participation in the strike as directed by the union and granted by the extant labour laws."
