35-year Old Kelvin Abugu Arrested For Allegedly Raping 9-Year-Old Child In Ondo.
Kelvin Abugu a 35-years old man has been arrested by the police in Ondo State for raping a 9-years old girl.
Salami Bolaji, the commissioner of Police in Ondo State revealed this on Wednesday while parading 11 Suspects for different offences in Akure the Ondo State capital.
Salami who resumed duty in May 2021 giving an account said; the mother of the victim on May 2 reported to the police that she noticed her 9-year-old child passing out blood from her vagina and after questioning the girl revealed that Mr Abugu inserted his hand and then his penis into her vagina.
Salami stressed that the police arrested Mr. Abugu and commenced investigation swiftly. Mr Abugu according to Salami confessed to raping the 9-year-old child.
Salami speaking further said investigation into the matter had been concluded and Prosecution was been awaited. He however regretted that the ongoing strike by judicial workers will slow down the process.
He also attributed successes so far to the ability of officers to have proper control of situations and also maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity in discharging their duties.
“ Like I always say, my system of policing is devoid of advertising, however, it is appropriate to tell someone sometimes exactly who you are and what you are doing.
“ Under this same period, we have arrested various criminals for various offences, some of which were through media cooperation and useful information from members of the public.
“ In one month, we arrested 11 suspects, recovered 26 generating sets and one Honda CRV Jeep.
“ I am also using this medium to ask for more of media collaborative efforts and the good people of Ondo to ensure that the state remains one with the lowest crime rate in the country,” he added.
