Twitter Operations, Suspended By Federal Government.
The operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter has been Suspended by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
MediaOrchid recalls that Twitter took down tweets by President Muhammadu Buhari, threatening Genocide on Igbos.
A statement issued by Alhaji Lai Muhammed, the Minister of Information, the federal government accused the platform of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.
According to Segun Odeyemi, a media aide to Lai Mohammed, quoting the federal government directive through a signed statement, ' the FG directed the Nigeria’s Communication Commission to commence issuance of licences to all OTT and social media operators.'
