1 Abducted Greenfield University Student Regains Freedom
Reports reaching the newsdesk of MediaOrchid reveals one of the students abducted from Greenfield University in Kaduna State has been released.
Hajiya Lauritta Attahiru the mother of the young man who was abducted alongside other students, confirmed the release of her son on Tuesday May 4 2021
Neither the state government nor the police have confirmed release or issued any statement to that effect.
Haijya Lauritta however while confirming the news on release of her son said he was released on Saturday but refused to disclose further how and if any ransom was paid for the release of her son.
According to some parents, the student was released on Saturday after his mother, the wife of a Retired Army officer from Plateau State negotiated and paid ransom to the bandits privately before they released her son on Saturday.
MediaOrchid recalls that the parents had earlier informed that the bandits have been negotiating with them individually, asking each of them to pay as high as N20 million, before they eventually demanded a bulk of N100 million and ten motorcycles on Monday, May 3.
Despite pleas from the public for the Kaduna State Government to act fast and secure the release of the students, there has been no response.
The fate of other 16 students remain unknown as bandits threaten to eliminate them.
