BREAKING : ChannelsTv Suspended For Granting IPOB Leader Interview

 

NBC Suspends ChannelsTv, Places Fine Of N5m For Allegedly Breaching Broadcast Code During Interview With IPOB Leader.

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has suspended Channels Television with a fine of N5 million for breaching the broadcast code.

A letter written to the Managing Director of Channels Television which was signed by the Acting Director General of the Commission, NBC, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, made reference to a live broadcast at 7pm on ChannelsTv on Sunday, 25th April, 2021. 

The letter alleged that ChannelsTV allowed a leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, (IPOB) to make inciting statements and secessionist declarations during the broadcast stressing that failure to upbraid the speaker by the station goes contrary to the broadcast code.

NBC also channeled the of the Nigerian Army when it also accused Channels Television of allowing the guest on the. Program to make " derogatory, false and misleading statements" about the Nigerian army, despite being proscribed by a court of law.
