The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has revealed that is making available about $104 Million To further assist Nigeria in response to it's ongoing humanitarian crisis, which poses a threat to an estimated population of 8.7million people.
According to a statement made available to a news agency Peoples Gazette, by the Africa Media Hub of the United States Department which stressed that “additional assistance” will provide urgently needed support for communities, including food, health, nutrition, shelter, protection, water, sanitation, hygiene, and humanitarian coordination programmes.
The US calling on other donors said, there is need to provide life-saving assistance to vulnerable Nigerians and the communities that host them.
“The United States is described as the single largest donor for the humanitarian response in Nigeria, having provided nearly $505 million in fiscal years 2020 and 2021.
Laying emphasis on #Covid_19 pandemic the Peoples Gazette said, the Coronavirus pandemic faced globally has further impacted food insecurity, raised protection concerns, including the risk of gender-based violence, and reduced access to necessities such as safe drinking water, nutrition, and shelter.
“The U.S. remains committed to helping the people affected by this conflict and will continue to provide vital support to the people of Nigeria,” the statement said.
