GBV: FG Unveils Policy Document Against Gender-Based Violence

 



Federal Government Launches Policy Document Against All Forms Of Gender-Based Violence.



The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, yesterday at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, launched a gender policy document against all forms of Gender-Based Violence in the country.


According to her, it was to enable for proper  operation and to ensure that Gender-Based Violence related issues are duly and adequately addressed. 

She said,


“I believe it will complement the agency’s operational strategies to curb gender-based violence and address gender gaps. ” 


The Director-General, (DG) of the The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the document would promote gender sensitive environment that would address forced migration, trafficking and other GBV crimes.


He further stressed that the launch of the document was aimed at strengthening gender clauses and mainstreaming of gender into policies, legislations, programmes and operations of NAPTIP-gender-based victim support with proper documentation and disaggregation of data.
