Chioma Uzodinma To embark On 16Days Of Activism Against Gender Based Violence,
....... Charges Elected Officers, Government Appointees, Imo Citizens To Take Part In Exercise.
A circular signed on Monday November 23 2020 by the Hon. Commissioner For Women Affairs, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, informing members of the public of the proposed exercise read ;
" Celebration of 2020 international day for elimination of violence against women and girls starts on November 25, 2020.
" Considering the present situation in which Covid 19 Pandemic brought about a surge in the perpetration of these various acts as well as impunity by perpetrators, we must raise awareness on the dangers of gender based violence especially now it is on the increase.
" We will gather for the walk opposite house of Assembly complex and walk to the government house."
Lady Nkechi further revealed the theme of the exercise as : "Orange the World" : Fund , Respond, Prevent, Collect ".
" Our colour of the day is orange. Support our mothers, wives, sisters and daughters, and say ' No to Violence, " she added
