Hon Bede Eke Urges security agents to operate within confines of the law.... Says Protests are legitimate means of ventilating in a democratic setting.

Member representing Aboh Mbaise / Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Bede Eke has appealed to members of his constituency not to allow hoodlums pretending to be #EndSARS protesters infiltrate the area.

Eke made the call on Thursday while reacting to news on destruction of properties in Ngor-okpala and Aboh Mbaise which he represents and also recent occurrences across the Federation which he described as being far from the goal of original protesters.

He decried situation where properties belonging to both the private and public are destroyed by persons disguising under  EndSARS protests while urging them to discourage acts associated with vandalism and anarchy.

Speaking with MediaOrchid he said,

" Protests are legitimate means of ventilating anger in a democratic setting and I support the rights of citizens to peacefully protest situations that they are uncomfortable with. "

Hon Eke also called on security agents to operate within the confines of the law while carrying out their duties.

" Your primary duty is to protect the lives of defenseless Nigerians and not to terminate lives of the people you are expected to protect.

" Display professionalism in the discharge of your duties and desist from brute force, he said.

"My office is in contact with security chiefs in the federal constituency as well as leaders in the area, this present situation, we shall overcome."
