Senate Threatens Zero Budget For Offending Agencies

The Nigerian Senate threatened that all, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) who fail to appear before the public hearing which was put together by the joint Senate Committees on Finance and National Planning risk losing budget.

The information was made available at the commencement of the five days public hearing on the 2021 - 2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) which was organized by both committees of the Senate.

Senator Solomon Olamilekan

Speaking about the MTEF, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, representing Lagos West said, the document was a conscious and careful working of the Executive which needs to be defended before the senate.

Olamilekan stated that interaction with CEOs of agencies and departments will be directly and not by proxy.

He said,

" Any agency that appears before the Committee by proxy will not listened to.

" If you refuse to appear to defend, we will not hesitate to ensure the agency has zero budget for this year."
