The speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has said that the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Pondei, can now appear before the panel having been discharged from the hospital.
Femi Gbajabiamila who had earlier said that the Acting MD would not be appearing anymore before the panel probing the alleged misappropriation of N81.5bn by the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC after Pondei Collapsed before the panel on Monday 20th July 2020, however said on Tuesday that Pondei can appear before the panel if need be, especially now that he is out of the hospital.
Clearing the air, Hon. Femi further said,
“What I said is that he has submitted his report, he was speaking to the written report and for that and for that day, he didn’t have to come back, we already had his written reports. ”
“However, the committee reserves the right to, completely, absolutely – now that we know he is out of hospital from all reports, and we thank God for his life, we thank God that he is okay, and now that we know that he is up and about, the committee has the absolute right to reinvite him for further questioning if the committee so chooses that they need him and that is my ruling on that.”
