10 Injured In OAUSTECH, ACE As Akeredolu's Supporters Attack Students.

10 students have been injured after a support group for Governor Akeredolu attacked them.

A group of people affiliated with thuggery, popularly known as 'Aketi Students Support Group' led by immediate past president of the National Association of Ondo State Students, Mr Olarewaju Akeredolu soliciting support for Governor Akeredolu's re election have reportedly been invading different campuses in Ondo state in a bid to draw students to support the incumbent  with strong use of Coercion.

Sources disclosed that on Saturday, the group went to Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) and Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) in Ondo State to inform the students to endorse  support for Governor Akeredolu. The group however met resistant when instead the president of the union Okunomo Damilola expressed dissatisfaction with Governance in the state especially as it affects their education.


The leader of the group became angered by the position taken up by the students' president and instead moved in the thugs that had been mobilized already to unleash terror on students in sight.

Okunomo said,

"When they arrived at the gate of our campus, they wanted to distribute some materials to some of our students and also asked to take pictures with them as a sign of endorsement but we told their leader Olarewaju Akeredolu that we would not do that because we are not happy with the government and if we accept to take pictures, we will be lying to ourselves."

Media Orchid recalls that a report from Sahara Reporters earlier, revealed that Mr. Olarewaju the leader of the group had upon investigation confirmed that his group visited campuses. He However denied attacking any student.

" My group went round campuses to distribute palliatives to students who were still on campus and could not travel home due to the lockdown. We even went to Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko and College of Health Technology in Akure to draw endorsement for Governor Akeredolu pointing out that they never had or encountered  any issues in other places mentioned." He said.

The Students' president Damilola ob the other hand explaining further to sources, however said,

"Governor Rotimi increased our tuition fee to N200,000 for engineering students, we don't even have enough lecturers, there is no power supply, and we still don't have enough laboratories and lecture halls.
" Now some people are coming to us for selfish  reasons and personal interest to force us to support the same man who made it tough for us to get an education.
They started to attack us when we told them pint blank that we cannot support Governor Akeredolu.
"They collected the phones of some of us who were using our phones to record their activities, and beat us up."

Mr Akinteye Babatunde and the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Committee which is made up of joint campuses and Adekunle Oluwatayo the Director Media and Publicity of the Association calling on the Police Commissioner  Bolaji Salami have asked that he orders immediately the arrest of  Olarewaju Akeredolu.
