The Rivers state PDP has berated the actions of a group loyal to former Governor Rotimi Amaechi after the group made and released a video threatening the Executive Governor of Rivers state Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the entire people of Rivers state.
The Chairman of the party Amb. Desmond Akawor in a statement made on behalf of the party charged the Police and Department of State Service Dss to arrest and prosecute those involved in the act.
Akawor's statement captured quite a number of points.
(1)The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has expressed displeasure at the utterances made by a group of APC members apparently loyal to the faction of the former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in a viral video, wherein the leader of the group threatened the peace of the state, should their leader and master, Amaechi not have his way in the current crises rocking the Rivers APC.
(2)The PDP in the state wondered why the factional leader of APC will condescend so low to allow such a low life person and a miscreant to make misguided comments against the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in their party self-inflicted crises.
In a statement on behalf of the party, the Rivers State PDP Chairman, Amb. Desmond Akawor by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Sydney Tambari Gbara, said that His Excellency is a responsible leader who is more concerned about delivering the dividends of democracy to Rivers people and not meddling in irrelevant issues in another political party. Describing the utterances credited to the factional APC group as grossly inciting, offensive, and derogatory which is not to be accepted by Rivers people, wondering why politics can not be played in a more tactical and decent manner in Rivers state by the Opposition.
Recalling that a similar situation has been witnessed in the state under the leadership of Rt.Hon.Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as the Governor of Rivers state. The Judicial Arm in the state was held "Under Siege",a situation where both Lawyers, Magistrates, Judges and the entire judicial staff were locked out of the court premises for several months.
(3)He maintained that never again will Rivers people fold their arms and watch the state being plunged into another unwarranted crises and bloodletting by these same unrepentant and blood thirsty faction of APC members and their self-styled Emperor. Adding that Rivers people will vehemently resist any further attempt by these miscreants to foist any form of breakdown of law and order in the state.
He further advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used as agents of crises in the state, while calling on Rivers people to remain calm and go about their legitimate businesses, but to be vigilant and report any suspicious character to the authorities.
(4)The State Chairman also wonder why the law enforcement agencies have not made any arrest, 24 hours after the viral video of a faction of APC members who identified themselves on social media with their faces conspicuously displayed, threatening the peace of the state and he therefore appealed to the Commissioner of Police, the Director Department of State Security to swing into action to arrest and prosecute everybody in the said video and their sponsor, to serve as deterrent to others and avert the recurrence of such ugly incident.
(5)Akawor thanked His Excellency for supporting the security agents by providing all the security apparatus needed for adequate security and sustainable peace which was not the case before His Excellency took over as The Executive Governor of the state. He stressed the need for all Rivers indigene both home and abroad to join hands with His Excellency to maintain the peace and security enjoyed in the state and not to incite crises.
