The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced a discreet investigation into a case of suspected culpable homicide at a hotel in Utako District of Abuja, which claimed the life of a hotel staff.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on Tuesday, 20th October 2026 at about 05:00 AM, following a distress report received at Utako Divisional Police Headquarters over suspicious noise and activity on the third floor of the hotel.

She stated that a team of police officers from Utako Division was promptly dispatched to the scene, where the source of the noise was traced to Room 301.

At the room, one Samuel Net, a tiler hired by the hotel, was found with marks of violence on his body, while another person, identified as Joseph Terdoo, a staff of the hotel, was found lying unconscious on the floor with multiple marks of violence on his body.

Joseph Terdoo was immediately rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by the medical team on duty.

Further investigations, according to the PPRO, revealed that the two men had a disagreement which degenerated into a physical confrontation. Samuel allegedly pushed Joseph who fell and hit his head on a wooden object and collapsed.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has advised FCT residents to shun violence and self-help during disagreements, enjoining them to embrace peace and diplomacy in resolving disputes, while encouraging residents to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
