The Delta State Police Command has launched a statewide clampdown on illegal road blocks and unauthorized revenue collection along highways, in strict compliance with the Federal Government directive to rid Nigerian roads of extortion and criminal activities.

The enforcement exercise commenced on Friday, July 24th, 2025, targeting notorious points where illegal tolls and roadblocks have disrupted free movement and endangered motorists. During the operation, 9 suspects were arrested at strategic locations including; Head Bridge axis, boundary between Delta and Anambra States and Benin–Asaba Expressway by Agbor.

According to a statement issued by the Delta state police command via its spokesperson and made available to the press, all suspects are reported to currently be in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The command also said that the exercise will be replicated in other parts of the state.

“The Delta State Police Command reiterates its commitment to restoring sanity and safety to highways across the state. Similar enforcement exercises will be replicated in other parts of Delta to ensure that motorists and commuters travel without harassment or illegal levies and urge members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers accordingly.”
