Debacle Deepens For Sowore, Sahara Reporters As Federal Fire Service (FFS) Officer Tests Positive To Drugs.
Eboka Benjamin, a Delta State-based Federal Fire Service (FFS) officer, has tested positive for drugs, according to results from a reputable private hospital's screening.
This is coming on the heels of a misleading publication made by Sahara Reporters a news agency owned by a certain Omoyele Sowore which inferred that Eboka was rearrested by Delta State Police Command, and alleged extortion of ₦200,000 bail money during his initial arrest.
Delta State Police Command in responding had issued a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the arrest. According to the police, Eboka Benjamin was apprehended alongside two other individuals while inside a Mercedes Benz GLK vehicle parked on a close street opposite Pinnacle Hotel, Asaba. The command stated that the suspects were allegedly in the process of purchasing illicit drugs from a suspected drug dealer at the time of arrest.
Police further disclosed that the trio were arrested together with the suspected dealer, and that incriminating exhibits were recovered at the scene, forming the basis for the ongoing investigation.
Beyond the drug-related allegations, there have also been further claims linking Eboka Benjamin to internet-related fraud, commonly referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo.” These allegations, police sources say, are also being looked into as part of the broader investigation.
It was also gathered that Eboka underwent a drug test at a reputable private specialist hospital in Delta State, where results reportedly indicated a positive outcome. Authorities insist that all actions taken so far have followed due process and that investigations remain ongoing.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that the Federal Fire Service, the organization where Eboka Benjamin is employed, has been formally informed of the developments and the progress of the matter as investigations continue.
