Sen. Natasha Questions EFCC's Handling Of Former Kogi Governor's Whereabouts.

Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has raised an alarm over the actions of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

Sen. Natasha criticized EFCC's handling of information relating to Bello's whereabouts as she pointed out that her recent comment on EFCC's Facebook page disclosing possible location of the former governor, Yahaya Bello were mysteriously deleted from the  Facebook page of the EFCC. She however took to Twitter to reiterate her concerns, urging the EFCC to address the issue transparently.

In a related development, on Thursday, March 14, 2024, the EFCC brought former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja. Bello is facing charges of alleged N84 billion money laundering offenses. Despite the legal proceedings, Bello's current whereabouts remain unknown, according to the commission.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan's statement further emphasized the issue, as she questioned why EFCC deleted her Facebook comment and urged them to assist in locating her favorite storybook, she stated,

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Government has vehemently denied any allegations of financial misconduct against Yahaya Bello. They accused the EFCC of unfairly targeting the former governor and expressed concerns about potential political motives behind the investigation. The government urged the EFCC to conduct their investigations without implicating the state and suggested that the investigation may be an attempt to tarnish Bello's reputation.

These developments underscore the complex and contentious nature of the legal and political landscape surrounding the EFCC's actions concerning former Governor Yahaya Bello, with stakeholders emphasizing the need for transparency, fairness, and accountability in the process.
