Edo 2024: Shuaibu's Name Missing As INEC Confirms Iyere, Osaro, Ighodalo, Okpebholo Others

Osaro, Monday, Akpata, Osalumese Make INEC List of Candidates For September 21 Governorship Election In Edo State. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC over the weekend made public a list of Governorship candidates of the 17 politics parties contesting the September 21 governorship election in Edo state, while the name of the Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shuaibu was conspicuously missing.

Candidates as listed by INEC include; Ighodalo Asuerinme of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okpebholo Monday of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyere Kennedy of Accord Party, Osirame Edeipo of Boot Party, (BP) and  Uwaifo Osaro of Action Alliance.

Others include;  Aner Abdullahi Aliu of Social Democratic Party (SDP) Azena Azemhe Friday of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Osifo Isiah of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)

Ugiagbe Odaro Syvelster of the All People Movement (APM); Areleogbe Amos Osalumese of All Peoples Party (APP) Akhime Kingson Afere of Action Democratic Party (ADP) Udoh Obersifo David of African Action Congress (AAC), Akhalamhe Amiemenoghena of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Enabulele Bright of Accord Party (AP) made the list. 

Also on the list are; Obazele Paul Agbone of African Democratic Congress, Olumide Akpata Anthony of Labour Party (LP), Key Patience Ndidi of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Okungbowa Paul Ovbokhan of Young Progressives Party (YPP) 

Meanwhile, the INEC headquarters had said the Commission shall publish the personal particulars of the governorship candidates and their deputies by displaying copies of Form EC9 along with all academic credentials and other documents submitted by each candidate at the state headquarters d the 18 local government offices across the state.

The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of the commission, Sam Olumekun, in a statement charged Nigerians to scrutinize the documents.

“Any aspirant who participated in his/her party primaries with reasonable grounds to believe that the information provided by the candidate is false can challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court as provided in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022”, the commission said.
