#EndSARS: " Conduct Mental Test For New Police Army, Other Recruits" - Chairman

Chairman Of Judicial Panel Of Inquiry Against Police Brutality Demands Compulsory Test For Police, Army, Other Recruits.

The Chairman of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry against Police Brutality, Human Rights Violations and Extra Judicial Killings in Osun State, Justice Akin Oladimeji (retd.), on Thursday advised the government to subject new recruits into security agencies to psychiatric tests.

Justice Oladimeji spoke at the Governor’s Office, Abere, while presenting a report of the panel to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

Oladimeji said the panel received 34 petitions and struck out 13, adding that after hearing, 21 petitions were processed.

The retired judge said from the petitions that the panel reviewed he observed that men of the Nigerian Police Force were culpable.

He called on the government to “reappraise structural issues like mode of recruitment of security agents and subject appointed officers to psychiatric tests to ascertain their fitness.”

Oladimeji also charged the government to fully implement the report, as doing so would restore hope in the justice system.

Responding, Oyetola said his administration had resolved to rid the state of all forms of injustice and oppression of the weak.
