BoT Meeting: The Position of the National Youth Leader
The National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Sunday Udeh-Okoye, respectfully welcomes the intervention of the Board of Trustees (BoT), as elders and leaders of our Party, to find solutions and ensure an amicable resolution of the disagreements currently rocking our great Party.
The action of the elders, in heeding to our patriotic cries to save our Party from collapse, especially in their promptness in convening of the BoT meeting, with a view to salvaging the situation, has restored hope about the fate of our Party.
For the avoidance of doubt, the issues at stake are as relating to clear inefficiency and incompetence being displayed by the National Chairman of our Party, Prince Uche Secondus, for which patriotic members and critical stakeholders, including the National Youth Leader, are insisting on his immediate resignation.
It is unfortunate that since the media appearance of Comrade Udeh-Okoye, calling for the resignation of the National Chairman, the National Chairman had rather allowed his aides and agents to commence paid campaign of calumny against the National Youth Leader and other patriotic leaders of the Party in some sections of the media, instead of putting the interest of the Party first by doing the needful.
It is however instructive to note that the call by the National Youth Leader for the resignation of Prince Uche Secondus, as the National Chairman, is not based on any personal grudge or parochial sentiment, but strictly on lack of competence and capacity in the running of the affairs of our Party; a position that was also consented to, by not a few members of the BoT at the meeting.
The obvious case of lack of capacity by the National Chairman to lead a united party; resulting in unending internal disputes, continuous mass defection of many of our key members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Moreover the corruption case hanging over the head of the National Chairman have made it morally and ethically impossible for Prince Uche Secondus to continue as the National Chairman of the main opposition Party in Nigeria.
There is no doubts that the National Chairman has weakened our Party and deserves to prove his love for our party by stepping aside for the Party to move forward.
While it is agreeable, at this moment, to align with the call for calm and allow for further consultations as charted by our leaders and elders, it should be noted that the stand already established by majority of PDP members and supporters is that Prince Uche Secondus should toe the path of honor and resign in the general interest of the Party.
