IMO: Panic Over Operations Of Kidnappers In Nwangele LGA

 



Terror, As Kidnappers Invade Communities In Nwangele Local Government Area Of Imo State.



Nwangele local government area has experienced series of attack in the last 1 week. According to reports, about 6 persons from Isu, Abajah and Dimnanume were abducted last week.


MediaOrchid recalls that there was also a report on Abduction of one Mr Chimezie Ọkpara from his village in Umudurunna by 3 men who were seen operating in an SUV on Friday.


Although Mr Ọkpara  regained freedom on Tuesday night from his abductors he was forced to pay some amount of money which has been said to about N5m


MediaOrchid also recalls that a Reverend Sister, a woman and two other men were abducted in Isu LGA and Dimnanume at different locations and time. 


A leader in one of the communities has revealed that neighbouring communities are also not left out in the fear. He further revealed that a meeting which was called by some stakeholders could not hold as a result of the security challenge. 


An intelligent report however suggests that most of the Inmates who were released during the attack on the custodial Centre;  headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) may be responsible for the unrest in Imo state.


A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Abutu Yaro, revealed that there has been immediate deployment of Police Special Forces to the regulation to help reinforce the security forces patrolling those areas.


According to Elkana, the police Commissioner during a briefing of the Special Forces at the Command Headquarters Owerri this morning, charged them to deal ruthlessly with the criminal elements disturbing the hinterlands.
