'Plot To Attack Major Locations', Abia State Raises Alarm

 

Abia State Beefs Up Security, Mobilize Agencies To Various Locations Following Intel Received.

The government of Abia state has revealed that a plot to attack 'major locations' by 'hoodlums' that haven't been identified by the government of Abia state  yet has been uncovered.

A statement signed by the commissioner for Information in Abia state revealed John Kalu and made available to the press revealed that security has been placed on 'stand-by' to foil plans to attack the state and to also bring persons planning such hideous activity to book.

MediaOrchid recalls that in February gunmen yet to be recognized attacked a police station in Aba and killed 2 police officers and carted Away ammunition.

MediaOrchid also recalls that gunmen laid ambush on a patrol van in Abiriba Ohafia and killed 3 policemen before setting vehicle ablaze.

“ We wish to advise members of the public to be extra vigilant, ensure they are at home before the curfew hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as well as monitor the activities of their neighbours.

“ Parents and guardians are also strongly advised to ensure that their children and wards are securely at home and not in any way associated with the hoodlums some of whom are said to be coming from outside the state,” he said in the statement.

“ Law-abiding citizens are encouraged to go about their normal duties but ensure they return home before 6 p.m. to avoid the rush associated with movement before the onset of curfew time.

“ While we remain confident that the security architecture within the state is robust enough to prevent the planned attack and/or bring those involved in the plot swiftly to justice, the State Government led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu will not spare any resource in ensuring the protection of law-abiding citizens.” 

Just like other states in the South-East Abia state has recorded series of attacks on police officers and their institutions. 

Governor Ikpeazu placed curfew in the state following the attack of the correctional facility in  Imo state. States like Akwa Ibom and Cross River have also suffered similar attacks.
