Fayose Proclaims Makinde Leader Of South West PDP

Former Gov Ayodele Fayose Finally Admits Gov Makinde Of Oyo Is The Leader Of The PDP In The South West.

Former Governor Ayodele Fayose has finally  acknowledged Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest. This is coming after a long running battle over leadership position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West.

All efforts by a committee headed by former Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki towards resolving differences and  reconciling them proved abortive.

The atmosphere earlier today at the Women and Children Development Initiative Foundation (WOCDIF), in Osogbo the Osun State Capital, when the congress began can be best described as tensed. Until the duo made statements that doused the tension.

Contesting for the Chairmanship of the party in the South West are Taofeek Arapaja, a former deputy governor of Oyo, and Eddy Olafeso. Fayose has been seen rooting for Olafeso, while Makinde strongly drummed support for Arapaja.

Six states in the South West are taking part in the election.

Oyo State with 171 delegates, Osun with 130, Lagos 101, Ogun 112, Ondo 114, and Ekiti with 115 delegates making a sum total of 734 delegates across the region.

Fayose addressing delegates said, " no matter the situation, Makinde is our leader” causing a reaction from people in the hall. He further stated that he would accept the outcome of the elections regardless of how it went.

“Under this gathering, you are our father," he added.
