Akeredolu Orders Council Chairmen To Set Up Vigilante Over Insecurity In Ondo State.
The governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu in a move to combat insecurity in the state has passed an instruction to council Chairmen across the state to set up local Vigilante.
Akeredolu who held a meeting with all 18 council Chairmen in Ondo state stressed the need to combat insecurity from all angles. Assuring the people of Ondo State he said that his administration has commenced an intense exercise of flushing out criminal elements and further urged the council Chairmen to begin engaging local hunters in to synergize with Amotekun towards achieving the task of tackling insecurity.
Akeredolu, in giving his assurance said at least, two operational vehicles will be provided for the Amotekun Corps in each of 18 local government areas across the state.
Gov Akeredolu speaking further, laid emphasis on Amotekun corps, describing the security outfit as a key to the effectively securing lives and property of Ondo people and also appealed to the council Chairmen to ensure the exercise is carried out in harmony with Amotekun corps. He also said the Ondo state government will meet with the Chairmen monthly.
On the issue confronting the APC in Ondo state, Akeredolu emphasized supremacy of party which according to him must be respected.
" The election and your emergence both as candidates of the party and elected chairmen are well deserved.
" We must respect the party’s decision. The party’s arrangements on fielding you as candidates for the local government election was based on party supremacy. If you don’t respect it you are inviting anarchy," he added.
Appreciating the head of council Chairmen for his felicitations on his re-election as governor, he said ' Victory is for all.'
