Salihu also known as Dawisu has been confirmed by a DSS official to be in their custody on his way back from Friday jumat prayers although the official stressed that the governor of Kano state who Salihu is an aide to is yet to be informed officially about the arrest made.
MediaOrchid also recalls that Salihu Yakassai was suspended last year by Kano state government for criticizing President Buhari on issues bedeviling the administration foremost of which is insecurity in the country.
A friend of Salihu expressing relief at knowing his whereabouts said,
" Alhamdulillah, we just confirmed @Dawisu is at DSS Office,"
A DSS official has also been reported to have confirmed that Salihi Tanko-Yakasai has all the way from Kano, been taken to the DSS facility along Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Asokoro Abuja.
Nigerians reacting to the news of his arrest while demanding for his immediate release are also questioning the manner of arrest.
" Normally, the state director of the DSS would order the arrest. As at 1am today, the Kano state director of DSS had said they didn’t pick him. This means that Abuja operated independently without informing their colleagues in Kano. An anomaly! Why such a desperation? #FreeDawisu
" The manner of @dawisu’s arrest was gestapo-esque. They didn’t inform a single member of his family. They disappeared him. They didn’t arrest him like Nigeria was operating under the rules & engagement of democracy. Hitler would have been proud of the DSS on this one #FreeDawisu "
