IG Of Police Queries Officers For Mocking Him On WhatsApp Platform Over Extended Tenure.
Nigerians have criticized widely the decision of president Buhari to extend the tenure of Adamu Mohammed the Inspector General of Police who though had retired was suddenly asked to continue in service for a period of three months.
Buhari's decision is generally condemned as a violation of the constitution on the country which has also been described by lawyers as ' Illegal and unconstitutional'.

Adamu as far as Nigerians are concerned stopped being a police officer following his retirement on February 2 2021, after being in active service for 35 years. The action of the president has widely been perceived by Nigerians as a deliberate plan to hinder a qualified officer from the South from becoming the Inspector General of Police.
The tenure extension, which critics said was a violation of the Nigerian Constitution, has been described by lawyers as both illegal and unconstitutional, as Mr. Adamu ceased to be a policeman on February 2 after attaining 35 years in service on February 1.
According to a report by the PeoplesGazette, IG Adamu has queried two police officers who mocked him for staying longer than the expected time in service.
A memo obtained from the police revealed IG Adamu queried two officers for mocking and condemning him on WhatsApp. One of the officers was alleged to have called him ‘Ewu Nasarawa’; which when translated means ‘a Nasarawa goat.’
The IGP coincidentally is from Nasarawa State in Nigeria.
The Memo read.,
“ The IGP is highly embarrassed, piqued and disappointed by your irresponsible and disrespectful conduct and has therefore directed that you be queried."
The officers involved are Victor Eze and Paul Ekumawoke, and are both assistant police superintendents. The duo were condemned for their action and queried for insubordination, discreditable conduct, divided loyalty and act unbecoming of a public officer.
The officers were queried for holding discussions on whatsApp groups where Adamu was referred to in such a manner.
Despite reaching out to the Frank Mba the Spokesperson of the police, he did not oblige requests for comments on the issue.
