EXCLUSIVE : AIG Dan Bature(Rtd) Laid To Rest In Jos

 



AIG Dan Shok Bature Psc+Fdc Buried Amidst Tears In Jos, The Plateau State Capital. 


MediaOrchid reports that the Retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Da Shok Daniel Bature died on Friday January 8 2021 after he reportedly slumped.


A statement signed on behalf of the family by Da Hon. Dr. Jonah Madugu (Dan Masanin Jos) read: 


" The Loy Gyes Family of Gashish District, Barkin Ladi LGA announces the passing away of our son, Husband, Father, and brother, late AIG Daniel Shok Bature (Rtd) Psc+Fdc, MSc on Friday January 2021 after a brief illness, he was aged 58yrs. 


" Until his demise, he was engaged in a private business after successfully retiring from the Nigerian Police Service after 35 years of meritorious service. 


" He was also the Chairman of the Police Cooperative.

Left to mourn him is his wife, Children, Siblings, numerous relations and friends."

Following the announcement on funeral arrangements, the burial took place today Saturday January 16 2021. 


The funeral service which commenced 9am  at the COCIN LCC Rayfield


AIG Daniel Shok Bature Jang  (Rtd) Psc+Fdc popularly known as AIG Dan Bature was born on December 1962 as the fourth child of late Da Shok Bature, of Kuzen Village, Gashish district Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.

He started his early educational pursuit in 1971 at the foremost Demonstration School Gindiri and later proceeded to St. Peter's primary school Bukuru where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. Thereafter, he was admitted into Government Secondary School Riyom between 1974 and 1979 where he obtained the West African (WASSC). In pursuit of further education, he attended the school of Basic Studies (SBS) Zaria between 1979 and 1980 where he obtained the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) certificate. His quest for knowledge saw him gaining admission into the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria from 1980-1983 obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science where he graduated with a 2nd Class Upper division. He remained consistently outstanding.

In 1983, Dan Bature diligently served his beloved country in Government College Katsina for the mandatory NYSC. His passion for fighting criminality, love for peace, social justice and the Zeal to further serve his country, inspired him to seek admission into the police academy, where after successfully graduating, he was commissioned Assistant Supreintendent of Police (ASP) on the 1st January 1985 and joined the Cadet Cadre in the same year. 


He attended various intermediary and senior service courses with outstanding performance that got him equipped and service ready which enabled him deliver qualitatively on every assignment he was saddled with. 


He was posted to man key strategic positions ; 


- Second in Command (2i/c) 14 PMF Yola - 1992-1993


- Commander 14 PMF Yola, Adamawa state - 1993-1994


- Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Ogida, Edo State - 1997


- Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Operations Borno state Police Command - 2005-2007


- Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCP) in charge Administration, Force Criminal Investigation  Department, Area 10 Abuja - 2009 - 2012

- Deputy Commissioner Of Police, (DCP) Interpol, Force headquarters Abuja 2012-2013


- Attended National Defence College Abuja 2013-2014


- Promoted to comissioner of Police (CP) and posted to Rivers  State Police Command - 2014-2015


- Commissioner of Police  (CP), Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) 2015-2016


- Deputy Commandant Police Staff College Jos, Plateau State - 2015-2016


- Promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and posted AIG Zone 11 Oshogbo Osun State


- Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Force Headquarters Abuja. 


- Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 1, Kano 


- Retired after 35 years of service on December 31 2019



Late Dan Bature also obtained M.Sc in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri, Borno state and in Strategic Studies from the University jof Ibadan Oyo state where he graduated exceptionally well and was recommended to continue into a PhD Program. 


He also attended the Police Staff College Jos which is the highest school in police training and graduated with high standards and was awarded a dagger (PSC). He was also admitted into the Nigerian Defense College where he graduated successfully as a fellow of the defense college (fdc). 


Upon his retirement on January 01 2020 after 35 years of service he engaged in entrepreneurial activities creating Job opportunities and also empowering Youths and Women.

Until death came calling on January 08 2021, San Bature was the Chairman of Police Cooperative.

Prince Chima I. Emmanuel a close friend of Late AIG Dan Shok Bature speaking with MediaOrchid at the funeral said, 

" He was an operator per excellence,and a loving father to his children. He was a quintessential individual, who is known for. putting his right foot on the right path of things.


" My dear friend AIG Dan Bature while he was alive, always made it clear that he wanted to be on the good side of history. He will be dearly missed.


" For the family and friends he left behind, this is indeed a great loss. I pray that God strengthens them and that the children carry on with the good legacy left behind by their father."

The death of late AIG Dan Bature has been generally described as a monumental loss not only to the Berom people and Plateau state but Nigeria at large.
