Senator Dino Melaye Calls Out The National Council For Women Society (NCWS)
...... Says It's Activities Have Been Commercialized.
The National Council for Women Society on Saturday January 16 presented an award of 'Most Gender Sensitive Governor' in Nigeria to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
There has been angry reactions from Nigerians following the presentation of awards as Nigerians have taken to various social media platforms to condemn the act of giving the award to Governor Bello. Foremost of reasons been given by Nigerians condemning the award is the level of Gender Based Violence (GBV) been witnessed in Kogi state under the governor.
MediaOrchid recalls that a woman Leader of the opposition party in Kogi state was burnt alive during the governorship election that returned Governor Yahaya Bello to office. Also, reports of how a female aspirant was attacked and dehumanized. All heinous acts are believed to have been carried out by boys loyal to Governor Bello.

Senator Dino Melaye, a former Senator and member of the 8th Nigerian National Assembly, representing Kogi West Senatorial district who also hails from Kogi state has also reacted to the awards given to Governor Yahaya Bello by the National Council for Women Society (NCWS).
A statement by him titled,
' Shame on the National Council For Women Society ' stipulated that NCWS have commercialized their activities.
He also said, Governor Yahaya Bello was undeserving of such an award.

SHAME ON THE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR WOMEN SOCIETIES:
" The National Council for Women Societies gave Yahaya Bello award as Most Gender Sensitive Govenor in Nigeria when In Kogi state there is no single woman as LGA Chair and no single Woman is a member of the Kogi state Assembly or National Assembly
" PDP Woman Leader was also burnt alive in his 2nd term election and her killers have not been brought to book
" Shame on you. Big disgrace to NCWS. Your leadership have commercialized your consciences.
" [AWARD BY NCWS TO BELLO IS A FRAUD. I can see that the Leadership of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) does not know that the Deputy Governor of Rivers state is a woman.
" They also do not know that the Asari-Toru LGA Chairman is female and that the other 22 LGAs have female Vice Chairman. They also do not know that Rivers has a Female in the Senate. Sen. Olujimi and co are female senators. They also do not know that there are female Commissioners in Rivers state. The also do not know there are many female appointees in Rivers state. And this has been so since Wike became Governor.
" If there’s any Governor who deserves the Gender inclusive award, it’s Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers. Infact the most Gender friendly Governors are the PDP Governors with special focus on the South. Please go and check their cabinets and the LGA Leadership of their states. Also check their States Assembly and their NASS Representatives. There are women everywhere. "
