Godwills Akpabio Takes To His Heels As Angry Ijaw Youths Storm His Office Demanding His Immediate Resignation.

Angry Members of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) stormed the Ministry of Niger Delta demanding  the immediate resignation of Senator Godswill Akpabio the Minister for Niger Delta. 

Speaking in the video, one of the leaders of the group said, 

 “ We are here in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to tell Godswill Akpabio that he did not put his blood for the Ijaw nation.

“ We the Ijaw people of the Niger Delta put our blood for the ministry to come into being.

“ He cannot undermine the interests of the Ijaw nation, who are the largest ethnic group in the Niger Delta. It is not acceptable and will not accept it.

“ That’s why we have come here to tell him (Akpabio) to resign. Today is the last day, he should leave this office for us.”

Mediaorchid recalls that Ijaw youths had  earlier on Monday, December 21, 2020, barricaded the East-West Road chanting war songs in a protest against the appointment of Effiong Okon-Akwa as Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) which was done by President Muhammadu Buhari had on December 12.

 This act according to sources angered young people and stakeholders in Ijaw land. Which also led to the demand of setting up of a substantive management board for the NDDC.
