FG Extends NIN-SIM Registration Deadline Till 2021

Deadline For Nigerians To Get Their SIM Cards Connected To Their National Identification Number (NIN) has been extended by the Federal Government.

Following the short notice by the Nigerian Communications  Commission ( NCC), directing all Telecommunication Companies to at the end of the year 2020, block all SIM cards not registered by National Identification Number (NIN) , Nigerians have been seen in large gatherings at different NIMC centres  in a bid to get registered to prevent their lines from getting blocked  against the safety measures of social distancing put in place to help curb the spread of #Covid_19.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is responsible for issuing National Identification Number (NIN) as soon as the National Identity of a person is entered into a Database which in turn helps to capture the record of a person.

The Federal Government has therefore extended the deadline of the registration to January 19 2021 for those with NIN and February 09 2021 for those without NIN.

In a statement made on Monday the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, and signed by the Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Umar Danbatta; and Director-General, National Identity Management Commission, Aliyu Aziz which Read;
