[VIDEO] : Security Aide To Speaker Gbajabiamila, Shoots Newspaper Vendor In The Head

 



A newspaper Vendor has been shot in the head by a security Aide to the Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila 

..... Speaker confirms incident.


Mr Ifeanyi Okereke (victim) was Shot in the head at the Federal Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Thursday at about 3pm.


According to correspondent report Okereke like other vendors on the three arms zone on Shehu Shagari way came around the convoy of the Speaker Gbajabiamila knowing he was in the habit of giving them money each time he passed by. 


According to Seidu, 

" Hawkers and Vendors who usually recognize Legislators and other VIPs would usually run after them with hope that they'll be given  something whenever they passed them by. 


" So today as usual, they came around the speaker after he called to give them money when suddenly gunshot was heard. 


" Okereke fell after he was hit in the head by the bullet." Seidu explained. 



The speaker was said to have questioned the aide who wasn't identified on why he opened fire but the aide failed to give an explanation and claimed he wanted to shoot in the air. 


Okereke's brother and some policemen immediately took him to the hospital where he gave up the ghost.


The spokesperson of the National Hospital Dr Tayo Haastrup speaking confirmed that Mr Ifeanyi Okereke died of injuries from gunshot.


" He died of gunshot injuries and would be moved from the trauma center to the mortuary shortly. "


The spokesperson of the FCT police ADP Marian Yusuf earlier was not able to confirm whether or not the incident was reported to the police. The speaker however confirmed incident in a statement via his Twitter handle at about 2:35am on Friday.
