NHRC Kick-starts 16Days Of Activism Against Sexual And Gender Based Violence




National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) kick-starts #16DaysOfActivism with "Road Walk Against SGBV" to raise awareness on Response and Prevention of Sexual and Gender Based Violence in Nigeria.


November 25 is the International Day for elimination of Violence Against Women. It also marks the beginning of 16 Days of activisim against Sexual - based Violence globally. These 16 days gives individuals, organizations and states the opportunity to take proactive steps to combat the menace of Sexual based Violence.


The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) a forerunner in the fight against violation and abuse of Human Rights in Nigeria is kick-starting the 16Days of Activism campaign with a ' Road Walk Against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV). The road walk scheduled for Wednesday is slated to start by 9am at the Federal Secretariat and terminate at the NHRC Complex.


The Executive Secretary of the NHRC who will be leading the road walk will round up the event with a press briefing. Joining the next wlk are other Stakeholders, Civil Society Organizations (CEOs), International Parrtners, Security agencies and Gentlemen of the press.

This year's 16 Days of Activism will also feature, a live podcast session with the various campaigns and SGVB response  activities across the 36 states in line with the year's global theme for the event which is;    'orange the world' : Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect.


Various organizations and bodies National and International, have lined up a compendium of activities to mark this year's 16 DAYS of Activism Against Sexual And Gender Based Violence.
