WIPF To Train Benue, Cross-River Young Women In Political Academy

 


Women in Politics Forum (WIPF) has announced acceptance of applications into it's Political Academy.


WIPF, a multi party organization for women in Politics across all political party lines with the support of UN Women Nigeria has announced that it is now accepting application to It's academy for young women in Benue and Cross River states.



The Academy which is open to young women between the ages of 18-35 consists of a two day intensive training aimed at strengthening the capacity of women engagement in political leadership processes and in political parties.

The President of WIPF Barr. Ebere Ifendu speaking with MediaOrchid said,


" Experts facilitators will take participants through the Academy's tailored curriculum with modules including 'models of leadership', at the end of the academy training, participants will be supported in registering for membership of a political party of their choice."


Speaking further, Ifendu highlighted the Criteria for application, admission and also the benefits for participants.


Participant Criteria: 


1. Aged 18 – 35 and living in Benue or Cross River State. 


2.  Demonstrative interest in any of the following areas: political leadership, political science, international relations international relations, gender equality and women’s 

empowerment, business investment or enterprise. Demonstrative voluntary or work experience is desirable.


3. Actively participating in party politics or demonstrates a willingness to actively 

participate in party politics following the end of the Academy.


4. Awareness of the barriers to women’s equal representation in leadership and 

governance processes in Nigeria.


5. Self-motivated with initiative to suggest innovative ideas and seize opportunities for 

professional and personal development.


6. Effective teamwork skills with demonstrative  experience in leading initiatives. 


7. Good verbal and written communication in English.


8. Excellent time management and a professional attitude.


Some of the benefits include,


1. Skill Building: Sharpen critical skills essential for effective political and community leadership as well as career advancement. 


2. Networking Opportunities: Broaden and diversify local network with new connections in the public, private and non-profit sectors. 


3. Political Involvement: Achieve a better understanding of political initiatives through first-hand exposure, strengthening your preparedness to serve in political positions. 


Interested candidates are asked to apply :


1. Send a CV (3 pages max) and Cover Letter (1-page max) indicating how they meet 

the participant criteria and why they should be selected for the Academy to

The deadline for Application: 4pm, 22nd October 2020


After submission of application, there will be an initial screening of all candidates will lead to selected participants being interviewed for a place in the Academy.


The President Barr. Ifendu warning the public to be mindful of persons who may seek to use the announcement to extort money from interested persons said, 


" WIPF does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process and training.


In the selection of participants, WIPF is committed to increase in women’s political participation and without discrimination of persons with disabilities; well qualified candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. "
