The Governor of Bauchi State Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has appointed a Special Assistant on Women Affairs (Unmarried).
The appointment letter which was dated 4th August 2020 and signed by the secretary to Bauchi state government, Mohammed Sabiu Baba has stirred up Mixed reactions among Nigerians on various social media platforms.

A side of Opinions among Nigerians as revealed via social media commentary indicates that the appointment which Nigerians have expressed not to be quite familiar with is a welcomed development and a good step in the right direction as it provides employment and also creates opportunity for these category of women to have a voice via their representative in the government.
Some have on the other hand opined however, that the use of the term 'unmarried' is discriminatory and that there ought not to be disparity in addressing the female gender stressing that the name 'women' covers for all who fall under the category of that gender whether single or married.
