The Government of Imo state has declared immediate shut down of all illegal parks/Ware Houses and also issued 72hrs Ultimatum to commercial motorists.
A statement signed by the Imo state Commissioner for Transport Barr Rex, Anunobi revealed that some commercial and private motorists had turned Assumpta/Portharcourt /Onitsha/WorldBank road axis and ware house into illegal parks.

IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF ALL ILLEGAL PARKS AT ASSUMPTA/PORTHARCOURT AND WAREHOUSE ORLU/ASSUMPTA ROADS AXIS
" Given the deplorable and unacceptable activities of some commercial and private motorists that have suddenly turned Assumpta/Portharcourt/Onitsha/World Bank Roads Axis and Warehouse Orlu/Assumpta Road into illegal parks thus causing traffic problems, and the urgency to restore sanity and free up traffic in Owerri Capital City, Government has ordered the immediate closure of all illegal parks and loading points within and along Control/ Assumpta/Portharcourt/Onitsha/World Bank Roads Axis, and Orlu/Warehouse/Assumpta Road Axis.
" All commercial motorists operating in these aforementioned areas are by this notice given 72 hours (upto Saturday, 15th of August, 2020) to relocate, empty up and operate from the new Arugo/ITC Motor Park, located along Onitsha Road; and Orlu Road Park, located within Orlu/Warehouse Roundabout.
" Consequently, a 15-Man Special Enforcement Taskforce headed by the new Chairman National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Prince Ifechi Davison Okorie (One Man Squad), has been constituted to enforce total compliance to this directive, and will commence enforcement on Monday, 17th of August, 2020.
Anunobi further issuing a warning to persons involved in "llegal Park activities" said,
" Government therefore warns all those involving in illegal park activities in these areas to desist forthwith as anybody yielding his/her property will be subjected to face the full wrath of the law, and defaulting motorists tried by the mobile court and vehicles impounded, risk seizure/fines.
" Imo transportation system must be sanitized. There is no other time than now.
" We therefore seek the cooperation and support of all towards the realisation of the transformation of the Transportation Sector of the Shared Prosperity Vision and Mission of the present administration for the good of Imo people."
