The Deputy speaker Edo House of Assembly, Hon. Yekini Idiaye, has been impeached and Hon. Roland Asoro elected as the new Deputy Speaker of the House.
Hon. Idiaye was impeached on Wednesday 5th August 2020 at the chamber of the state House of Assembly and immediately replaced by Hon. Roland Asoro representing Ohrionmwon-South Constituency.

MediaOrchid recalls that Idiaye reportedly led 2 lawmakers to Ize Iyamu the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forth coming September Elections in Edo state to pledge support.
His action led other members of the Edo state House of Assembly to take the decision to impeach him.
