A magistrate court in Isabo Abeokuta in Ogun state has sentenced a man to 3yrs Imprisonment for Impersonation.
Sources speaking with Media Orchid revealed that Mr Omotola Ayokanmi was prosecuted by a police Insp Fortune Akhenegor on the 16th of July at the Federal High Court for presenting himself as a legal practitioner. Akhenegor speaking said that Ayokanmi moved an application for bail for a matter which he appeared as a counsel at the Federal High Court Abeokuta.
In addressing the court, however Ayokanmi made mistakes which the Judge found unprofessional and began to interrogate him.
The defendant Mr Ayokanmi confessed to being a diploma student in Law. He also confessed that he had been in the act since 2007 and has been using his wife's gown who was called to bar in 2006.
Insp Akhenegor quoting section 484 of the criminal law of stressed that Ayokanmi 's actions contravenes the Law.
The defendant Mr Ayokanmi pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was sentenced by the Magistrate Mrs Ogundele Folake to 3yrs Imprisonment without leaving an option of fine.
