Members of the Senate and House of Assembly have insisted on the suspension of programme which was proposed to create 774,000 Jobs for Nigerians.
Legislators expressed their dissatisfaction over President Muhammadu Buhari's position and have issued a warning on the consequences of Buhari's position if it is not reversed.
Media Orchid recalls that President Buhari had earlier asked Festus Keyamo the minister of State Labour and Employment to go ahead with the Programme which members of the National Assembly had earlier raised alarm over and suspended.
The senators followed up on the issue by holding a closed door meeting yesterday where the Senators stood their grounds on the suspension and even asked the Senate President Ahmad Lawan to go back and have a meeting with the president to convey their message and displeasure over the directive which Buhari had earlier given and report back to them.
Media Orchid speaking with a Senator this morning gathered that Senators collectively saw the position of the president as an insult to their sensibility and the Nigerian Senate as an arm of Government.
She said
"President Muhammadu Buhari ought to have regards for the decision of the Senate. We insist the programme remains Suspended and we have also sent the senate President back to Buhari to express our anger. We are currently awaiting a feedback from the outcome of Lawan's meeting with President Buhari. That's where we are currently."
Some members of the House of Representatives have also indicated that they stand firmly with the resolve of the Senate.
